Childhood and Educational Pursuits
Born in Springfield, Missouri, on April 12, 1956, Holly was the daughter of two loving parents who instilled in her the importance of education and kindness.
She attended Lincoln Elementary School and later graduated from Springfield High School, where she excelled in academics and extracurricular activities. Holly went on to earn a degree in Education from the University of Missouri, a path that would shape the rest of her life.
A Dedicated Teacher
Holly began her teaching career at Jefferson Elementary School in 1978, quickly gaining a reputation as a compassionate and skilled educator. Over her 40-year career, she became known for her innovative teaching methods, inspiring students to love learning.
She was honored with several local teaching awards and continued her involvement in education even after retirement, tutoring students and supporting educational causes.

Holly was also a doting grandmother to five grandchildren, her love for them shining through in every game she attended and every story she read.
Community Advocate and Volunteer
Outside of her career, Holly devoted much of her time to community service. She served on the board of the Springfield Food Bank and volunteered at the local library, organizing book drives for children in need. Her involvement in community causes earned her recognition as Springfield’s Volunteer of the Year in 2015.

A public memorial service will be held at Springfield Community Church on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Springfield Food Bank or the Jefferson Elementary School Scholarship Fund, causes that Holly held close to her heart.
